Sunderland have dropped their clearest hint about next season’s hummel kits, with an Elvis-themed tease that could be their biggest collaboration yet.
After the 2-1 win over Chelsea, which sealed Europa League football in 2026/27, the main scoreboard showed the club crest on the left and Elvis Presley’s trademark on the right, both in pink against a black background.
Supporters later received an email titled 'Elvis - Episode One' in the same colours. It carried the line 'some things are meant to be', a nod to Can’t Help Falling in Love that has become the club’s anthem, and ended 'Arriving this summer'. 'Wise Men Say' has soundtracked the club’s rise to the Premier League’s top half and now looks set to be celebrated through future kit ranges.
The pink and black palette could nod to the suit Presley wore early in his career, recreated by Austin Butler in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic.
Sunderland and hummel have recently extended their partnership on improved commercial terms for the Black Cats. Neil Burke, hummel’s UK chief executive, said: "We thank the club for backing us because they would have had other offers but they’ve stuck their neck out and gone for Hummel". The remarks were made to the i paper.
Hummel are expected to release two retro ranges next season based on designs from 1988-1994, with the club’s three main kits and further ranges expected to drop in June, July and then August.
