Because there’s trouble brewing here. SPORT1 was the first to report on it. The record-holding champion’s homegrown player had been promised—and even publicly assigned—a permanent spot on the professional roster upon his return from a one-year loan to Heidenheim at the start of the summer. 

At the time, Munich also extended the player’s contract; a loan deal or a transfer in general was off the table. Instead, FC Bayern planned to use the player as backup for the offense.

Ibrahimovic angry at FC Bayern

BILD is now following up and confirming the report. The fact that FC Bayern is now once again considering letting Ibrahimovic go and even loaning him out has indeed caused great irritation among the players. Bayern had most recently made this known quite publicly.

Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, had raised Ibrahimovic’s hopes significantly when the new contract was signed. “Arijon’s development is a prime example of the opportunities we provide for our young talents. For him, it’s no longer just about learning—now it’s about making an impact, here at FC Bayern,” the Austrian said at the time.

Later, however, there was a reversal.“He was here throughout the preseason and got a lot of playing time, but now you can tell that things might be getting tougher for him after all,” Max Eberl explained to BILDbefore the season opener when asked . The fact thatthis was immediately communicated publicly—effectively putting the player on the market—did not go over well with the player at all. That’s why no one really knows yet how Ibrahimovic and his advisors are handling the situation. There are reportedly inquiries, including one from Werder Bremen. In any case, it seems the relationship between Ibrahimovic and FC Bayern has been severed—at least for now.
