The end-of-season lap returned to Mestalla after the Barcelona game, with out-of-contract players posing with family. Nine Valencia deals end on 30 June, and only Stole Dimitrievski currently shows signs of staying.
He left after media duties, saying he is happy when he plays. According to AS, Valencia hold a unilateral option on the goalkeeper and want to use it.
For Cömert and Thierry the mood felt like farewell. The full-back’s injury record tells against him, and Cömert heads to Switzerland’s World Cup camp still unsure of next season.
Ron Gourlay asked Cömert’s camp for time and for updates on offers, without promising one from Valencia. Centre-back is crowded beyond 30 June, with six under contract, Diakhaby, César Tárrega, Copete, De Haas, Cenk and Iker Córdoba.
Gourlay will review the season this week and, with Carlos Corberán, begin planning tomorrow. Valencia start with 24 players under contract.
Of those expiring, aside from Dimitrievski only Guido Rodríguez has held formal talks to continue, but his initial demands exceed Valencia’s appetite. Several players, including Guido Rodríguez, Unai Núñez, Ramazani, Renzo, Agirrezabala and Lucas Beltrán, took photos in case Saturday was their last appearance.
Agirrezabala will return to San Mamés for Edin Terzic to decide, his clause seen as prohibitive. Unai returns to Celta and Beltrán to Fiorentina, with no purchase clause and prices out of Valencia’s range.
Gourlay did enquire with Leeds about Ramazani, but recent on-pitch attitude has not impressed and interest in keeping him has cooled. Renzo departs with thanks.
