Fenerbahçe have rejected reports that their 20% sell-on clause for Real Madrid’s Arda Güler is capped at €1.5 million. The club said in a statement that the clause has no upper limit.

Issued to correct misunderstanding around the playmaker’s transfer terms, the announcement accused some coverage of creating a false perception in public. It framed the claim of a €1.5 million ceiling as inaccurate.

As Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. is publicly traded, the message urged that discussion of its economic rights should rest on documents and facts, not speculation.

The dissemination of unverified claims capable of misleading capital markets and investors was described as unacceptable, with repeat disinformation to prompt criminal complaints against those responsible.

Güler joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe in July 2023 for an initial €20 million plus bonuses. Under the reaffirmed agreement, Fenerbahçe remain entitled to a 20% share of any profit or total fee if Madrid sell the 21-year-old in future.
