Atletico value Ruggeri and the progress he has made in Spain, yet the pull of Italian football appears genuine.

He built his reputation at Atalanta, developing into one of Serie A’s most reliable wing-backs before earning his move to Madrid, and a return would carry less adaptation risk than a foreign signing.
