Flamengo will learn their Copa Libertadores quarter-final opponents tonight as Independiente Del Valle host Deportes Tolima. The Brazilian side advanced after knocking out Cruzeiro 2-1 at the Maracanã last Wednesday.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Del Valle v Tolima second leg starts at 21:30 Brasília time at Estadio Banco Guayaquil in Ecuador, with streaming on Paramount+.
The first leg, initially set for 11 August, was postponed by CONMEBOL after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia that caused about 280 fatalities, and was played on Tuesday 18 August. Del Valle won 1-0 at Estadio Manuel Murillo Toro through Arón Rodríguez, so a draw tonight would see the Ecuadorians through. If Tolima win by one, the tie goes to penalties.
Flamengo and Cruzeiro drew 1-1 in the first leg at the Mineirão, with goals from Arroyo and Lucas Paquetá. In Rio, Arrascaeta put Flamengo ahead before Arroyo equalised, then Samuel Lino struck the winner for a 2-1 victory.
CONMEBOL have yet to confirm exact dates and kick-off times for the quarter-finals. First legs are set for 8-10 September, with the returns expected between 15 and 17 September.
Tolima would be the more accessible opponent for Flamengo, while Del Valle pose the added test of 2,850 metres at Estadio Banco Guayaquil. With a lead and home advantage, Flamengo could well be paired with the Ecuadorians.
