With Florentino Pérez re-elected as Real Madrid president, the club can now move to formalise several deals, notably Ibrahima Konaté’s arrival early this week.

According to L'Équipe, the 27-year-old French defender, a free agent since last week’s announcement of his Liverpool exit, will sign a four-year contract with the Spanish side.

The announcement is likely to come on Tuesday.

It would be his fourth professional club after Sochaux, Leipzig and Liverpool.

The initial medical is set to be conducted by reviewing his previous records, so, as it stands, he is not expected to undergo tests in the United States. Konaté is in France’s World Cup squad.
