Juventus have confirmed the club remain interested in signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer.
The Italian side want to bring in an experienced goalkeeper as part of their rebuild, with Martinez emerging as the top target.
Juventus CEO and general manager Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed the club's interest in Martinez, though said the club have been quoted 'unrealistic figures' for potential targets.
“Martinez is playing (at the World Cup) so we have to wait and see," Carnevali said at aSky event.
"He is a goalkeeper who interests us. However, I reiterate what I said earlier regarding Juventus: there could be many opportunities.
“We need to evaluate things carefully, especially right now, given that the valuations for some players are excessively high—unrealistic figures.”
Sky Sports Italy are reporting that Juventus board members will meet this week to discuss the viability of a deal for Martinez.
The 33-year-old is currently with world champions Argentina at theWorld Cup, with the South Americans reaching the quarter-finals on Tuesday after a thrilling comeback win against Egypt.
Juventus are also considering Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario as an alternative, should Martinez be out of reach. Vicario is expected to leave Spurs and return toSerie A this summer.
The Turin side had explored a deal to sign Alisson Becker from Liverpool earlier this summer. However, Liverpool turned down the approach with Alisson set to see out the remainder of his contract at Anfield. The Brazilian's deal is due to expire in 2027.
