Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson has issued an update after undergoing surgery on an injury sustained following England’s win over Mexico on Monday.

The 36-year-old is part of the Three Lions’ squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, with Thomas Tuchel’s side preparing to face Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday 11 July (10pm kick-off BST).

Henderson shared the update on Instagram ahead of the tie against Kristoffer Ajer's side.

“Surgery done! Let’s get ready for the big one Saturday,” Henderson wrote.

“Thank you to all the staff that looked after me at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute. Especially the three surgeons who carried out the operation: Dr Kenneth P Unruh, Dr Mark J Winston and Dr Kirk McCullough.”

Henderson recently became England men’s only player to feature at seven major tournaments, having first represented the Three Lions on the international stage in 2010 and at a major tournament at Euro 2012.

England reached the quarter-finals with a sensational 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca on Monday morning, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice and Harry Kane netting from the spot to send Tuchel’s side through.
