Igor Jesus struck late for Nottingham Forest to leave Aston Villa in the bottom three with four games played.

Unai Emery's side are still winless in the 2026/27 campaign and the Spaniard will no doubt know he hasn't had the best of records against Oliver Glasner's sides in the past.

Indeed, it was Forest who took the lead early into the second half and it was the kind of goal that will give Liam Delap's confidence a world of good. The visitors won the ball high up through Murillo with Delap then jinking past one defender before tucking into the corner from distance to bag the first goal for the Tricky Trees.

Another man getting his first goal for his club was second-half substitute Alysson Edward. Debutant Ibrahim Mbaye, who came on in the 63rd minute, forced Matz Sels into a save that resulted in a corner. From that set-piece that was worked short John McGinn whipped in a ball for the Brazilian to finish.

However, it was Forest who had the last laugh when in the 88th minute when Morgan Gibbs-White back-heeled the ball with Igor Jesus reacting quickest to put his side in the lead again.

That result sees Forest go up to 11th in the Premier League while Villa sit in 19th place with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur their next league fixture.
