FLW's West Ham fan pundit has given his verdict on their pursuit of Sunderland duo Simon Adingra and Wilson Isidor

West Ham’s transfer window has been focused more on selling star players than bringing in new talents so far.

However, with just under a month remaining in the market, the Hammers’ attention is now starting to shift towards bolstering Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes have both been sold following the club’s relegation, with the pair netting the London outfit major cash.

And it has now emerged that Sunderland duo Simon Adingra and Wilson Isidor are now being targeted by the Championship side.

West Ham have until 1 September to complete their transfer business before the market shuts for the remainder of the calendar year.

It remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck with the Black Cats for the left-winger and striker, who both struggled for consistent game time last season.

When asked about the prospect of signing the Sunderland duo, FLW’s West Ham fan pundit Ryan Horn claimed that he is excited at the possibility of them coming in to replace Summerville and Callum Wilson.

He believes the pair would be an upgrade for those positions, and that he’d be impressed if they were willing to make the step down to the Championship to move to the London Stadium.

“Honestly, I’m very excited,” Horn told Football League World.

“I very much think this is a brilliant replacement.

“I think they’re better, so we’re going in the next step.

“As much as Summerville had a really good purple patch, he had major injury issues and got a lot of money for him. callum Wilson is a solid player but can’t do 90 minutes, unfortunately, because of his age.

“That’s nothing against him, but he was a brilliant impact sub, and I do wish we did keep him, but he’s left.

“Replacing them with, again, great hot prospect talents, it just shows that they’re willing to come down from the Premier League from Sunderland to West Ham, it just shows the direction we’re going in and the pull.”

Horn has claimed that these are ambitious moves, and that he is excited that this is the strategy going forward at West Ham, rather than seeking free agents.

“We are actually being ambitious, rather than going for the free agents and using certain player agents’ clients, like we have done in the past,” he continued.

“So I’m very excited.

“It’s not just about the players, but the message it sends.

“It also shows that we are going for these sorts of players.

“I know we’ve got a few bids in for [Arne] Engels, like this is what I wanted to see.

“This is worth the wait, with how long it’s been, we haven’t signed anyone.

“This would be worth it, I’m very excited.”

West Ham’s summer business so far

West Ham have yet to add a major first team signing so far this summer following their relegation.

However, their activity is likely to ramp up in the coming weeks, with the market set to close at the start of September.

The Hammers will want to build a team capable of earning promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Adingra and Isidor could both be on the cards, albeit no agreement has yet been reached with Sunderland.

Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is also being linked with a move to the London Stadium, with Espirito Santo looking to replace Fernandes after his £85 million move to Spurs.

West Ham will want to have some signings in the door before their opening league game of the new Championship campaign, where they will face Burnley on 16 August.

Sunderland duo would bolster West Ham’s attacking options

Adingra didn’t quite click under Régis Le Bris last season for Sunderland, but there is no denying that he possesses a lot of potential, and he has plenty of Premier League experience.

He could excel in the Championship for West Ham, and could be a strong replacement for Summerville, if he can be convinced to drop down from the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Isidor has a proven track record at this level after helped the Black Cats gain promotion in 2025 through the play-offs.

Depending on the size of the deals, this could be a smart piece of business from West Ham to improve their attacking options for the season ahead.
