FC Barcelona returned from the September international break in style, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Valencia as La Liga resumed. The fact that they managed such a dominant win despite missing several key players makes the result even more impressive.

For one player in particular, though, the night was unforgettable. Barcelona Midfielder Marc Bernal finally returned to action after spending 383 days on the sidelines recovering from an ACL tear.

The 18-year-old midfielder made his way to the pitch in the final minutes of the game as he replaced Pedri, and his introduction was accompanied by a resounding ovation from the crowd.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Bernal also talked to Barca One after the game, and expressed his feelings on such an auspicious occasion. He revealed that all of his teammates had congratulated him:

“I’m very happy, very pleased, all my teammates and the staff came to congratulate me.”

The La Masis graduate also briefly reflected on his painful experience:

“It’s been a very tough road, a tough process, but today it ended with a very beautiful day. It helped me to become stronger, to know myself better.”

In addition to his return, the midfielder was also very happy with the win and highlighted some of the individuals who helped him get through the difficult time:

“I’m happy about the assist, but above all about the three points. I thought of my family, especially my mother, with whom I spent a month locked in a hotel, and also of the physiotherapist Borja, who suffered more than I did.”

Having just returned from the injury, Marc Bernal will still need a significant time to get back to his best level. Hopefully, he will continue to get better in the coming weeks and gradually turn out to be another option in midfield for Hansi Flick going forward.
