Paris FC crushed Monaco 4-1 on Friday, Jonathan Ikoné struck twice and Ciro Immobile added a goal and an assist.
As reported by L'Équipe, the squad were handed an extra day off, having initially been due back on Monday afternoon.
Immobile, 36 and a Euro 2021 winner, netted his second Ligue 1 goal after scoring against Le Havre on 22 March in the 3-2, and he set up Ikoné for Paris FC’s third.
After just 227 minutes at Bologna in the first half of the season, he now looks sharper, standing up in duels and even matching Thilo Kehrer for pace, while guiding team-mates on the pitch.
Inside the club he is seen as friendly, humble and discreet. He is working on his French, and compatriots Luca Koleosho and Diego Coppola, plus team-mates who speak Italian or Spanish such as Maxime Lopez, Ikoné, Kevin Trapp and Timothée Kolodziejczak, have eased his integration.
Ikoné, formerly of Fiorentina and Como, has naturally gravitated towards Immobile. With Ilan Kebbal under the weather beforehand, he delivered his best display, supplying the pre-assist for Immobile’s goal and creating a chance for Lopez on 14 minutes with an acrobatic flick then header.
The left-footer looks sharper week by week and acts as a big brother to youngsters Nhoa Sangui, Rudy Matondo and Adama Camara. His mood can vary, some days loud and playful, others more reserved.
After the match, Antoine Kombouaré said both forwards arrived short of minutes and form, and that a run of good performances has rebuilt confidence. With players ready and believing, he added, results like this can follow.
