Leeds United are set to miss out on defensive target Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh, who is ‘on the verge’ of completing a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.
The 19-year-old defender first emerged on Leeds’ radar at the beginning of June, although they were already playing second fiddle to 1. FC Koln, who were preparing to table an offer.
It was also suggested that, alongside the German outfit, Trabzonspor had shown interest in Kinteh.
However, a twist in the transfer story emerged yesterday, with Koln, despite previously being seen as frontrunners for the Gambian centre-back, informing Tromso that a move is not currently feasible.
In a swift development, another club appear to have moved ahead of the Yorkshire side, poised to snatch the teenage talent.

Kinteh is being tempted to Saudi Arabia, despite his young years and, according to German journalist Philipp Hinze, ‘is now on the verge’ of joining Al-Ahli.
All terms have been agreed with the Saudi Pro League club for the services of the Tromso youngster, effectively ruling out an extended stay in Europe for the 19-year-old.
The Leeds admired defensive talent now just has to put pen to paper with the Saudi Arabian side.
What initially attracted the Whites to the Gambian defender was his performances with the Norwegian side, where he made 35 appearances, registering a goal and an assist, but it now appears Elland Road is not where he will be plying his trade next season.

Manager Daniel Farke, who has earned praise for his influence on Leeds United’s recruitment strategy, nevertheless has several irons in the fire as he looks to strengthen the squad for next season, with Sporting Lisbon centre-back Ousmane Diomande among those linked.
Leeds will likely keep an eye on how Kinteh does at Al-Ahli, with a return to Europe more than possible given his age.
Following Illan Meslier’s departure, the club are still in search of further defensive reinforcements this summer, with the rebuild seemingly far from complete as they also explore options for a new goalkeeper.
