Former Santos player Luciana Ortega has been convicted of defamation against ex-coach Kleiton Lima over a sexual harassment accusation. The verdict was delivered by judge Denise Gomes Bezerra Mota in the city's 4th Criminal Court. An appeal remains possible.
According to Globo.com, Ortega received a three-month detention term, converted to community service, plus a R$ 20,000 fine and R$ 2,000 in court costs.
Lima sued Ortega in 2024, alleging she wrote an anonymous letter to the Santos board accusing him of harassment. Ortega denied authoring the document. In total, 19 letters made accusations against the coach, who left his role in 2023 and has been out of work since.
The letter linked to Ortega claimed Lima harassed her at a street market in Santos. Ortega told the club’s directors the market episode occurred, which Lima denied. The judgment recorded that club directors, including Aline Xavier, had warned Ortega about the allegation.
The 2024 case was archived. Lima then sought a police investigation and filed a new case in 2025, with the ruling published last week.
