KV Mechelen have announced that three players will be departing at the end of this season. The biggest of these is certainly Kerim Mrabti, who has been with the club since 2020. The former Birmingham City winger has been a fan favourite at the club and there had been discussions between Mrabti and the club around remaining for another season, but they could not agree on a new deal. Joining Mrabti in leaving the club will be Guinean international Mory Konate and Burkina Faso winger Hassane Bande.
Mrabti joined KV Mechelen from Birmingham in the summer of 2020, just one year after leaving Stockholm based Djurgarden. Mrabti had played 93 games for Djurgarden, scoring 22 goals. He spent just a season and a half with Birmingham City, scoring three goals and playing 29 games. In the midsts of the COVID19 pandemic, Mrabti departed Birmingham City on a free to join Mechelen. Since joining he played 203 games for the side, scoring 37 goals. Mrabti’s best scoring season was the 2021/2022 season where he scored 10 goals and grabbed six assists.
Konate also joined the club on a free. The former Borussia Dortmund youngster joined Sint Truiden in 2019 and played 67 games for the side in a spell that was hampered by injuries. Clearly a talented player, Mechelen signed Konate in 2023 and he went on to play 64 games as both a central defender and midfielder. Once again, injuries ensured that the 32-year-old Guinean international did not make as many appearances as he could have.
Bande returned to the club for a second spell in October 2025. During his first spell, Bande had scored 12 goals in 27 games and earned a move to Ajax. He has struggled for consistency since, especially with injuries not helping. Since returning to Mechelen he only played eight games.
