Leeds United are closing on Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi, who is due to fly to the UK this evening to complete a move in the coming days. Sebastiaan Bornauw is set to head to Hamburg once a replacement is secured, with his exit driven by the player’s camp.
Joel Piroe’s agent, Theo Roebbers, told The Athletic on Saturday that if no solution is found for a move this summer, Leeds should not contact him again. The forward featured for only 15 minutes across United’s last four pre-season friendlies.
A deal with Elvedi was agreed on Saturday. After the friendly with Augsburg, Daniel Farke said he anticipated movement on the Swiss defender and on Bornauw within 48 hours, while stressing nothing was final until signed.
Elvedi is scheduled for a medical, and confirmation of his arrival is expected roughly in tandem with Bornauw’s exit. Farke has praised Bornauw’s professionalism. The Belgian started only five Premier League games following his £5 million switch from Wolfsburg last summer.
Goalkeeper Lucas Perri is close to completing a loan to Torino. The move, long in the works, paused during his recovery from a quad issue to smooth his medical.
The Torino deal includes an option to buy and is now in its advanced stages. Leeds will look for a new number two, with Paraguay World Cup goalkeeper Orlando Gill under consideration, though no formal approach has been made.
West Ham have been in sporadic contact over Piroe during the summer window. He has one year left on his deal, with an option for a further 12 months.
