Leeds United confirm Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight tributes against Brentford | OneFootball

Leeds United will honour supporters Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight during Saturday’s Premier League match against Brentford at Elland Road, marking the 26th anniversary of their deaths.

The pair were killed ahead of United’s UEFA Cup semi-final against Galatasaray in Türkiye on 5 April 2000, and the club said in a statement that it is in positive dialogue with West Ham United to arrange tributes on Sunday 5 April, including two wreaths laid in front of the away end before the FA Cup quarter-final kicks off at 4:30pm at the London Stadium.

At Elland Road there will be a minute’s applause before kick-off, with a further tribute on the big screen in the 26th minute. The families of Chris and Kevin will be in attendance.

Chairman Paraag Marathe and managing director Robbie Evans will lay wreaths at the East Stand plaque commemorating the pair before the game. The captains of both teams will then place wreaths by the dugouts ahead of kick-off.

Saturday is Leeds’ final home fixture before the 26th anniversary of their passing.
