Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach will not feature across all four of Germany’s fixtures after a pre-planned squad split, his international window concluding with a historic 1-0 home defeat to Greece in Augsburg on Sunday.

Recalled by new manager Jurgen Klopp in an unconventional 44-man group divided into two 22-player camps for meetings with the Netherlands and Greece, Stach came on midway through the second half of Thursday’s 1-1 draw with the Dutch, then was a late substitute again on Sunday. "I could have lived with us not winning but you cannot lose such a game," Klopp said, speaking to ARD.

Dimitrios Kourbelis had already put Greece ahead when Stach entered in the 83rd minute, and Germany suffered their first ever defeat to the visitors.

"We have been together for a week now, all mixed together, and that needs time. The result is not cool but it is absolutely part of the process."

After two cameos, Stach now departs the camp as a fresh 22 arrive for games against Serbia and Greece. He will get an extended rest with Leeds idle for two weeks, before a trip to Premier League champions Arsenal on Saturday October 10.
