Leonardo Jardim in advanced Flamengo talks as 2025 Cruzeiro stance recalled | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo are in advanced negotiations to appoint Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, who is currently without a club.

A remark he made in 2025 has drawn attention, when he said he would only coach Cruzeiro in Brazilian football and would not take another job in the country.

He explained that in Greece he was Olympiacos, in Qatar he was Al Rayyan, and in France he was Monaco, adding that in Brazil he considered himself Cruzeiro only.

Jardim took charge of Cruzeiro at the start of last season and oversaw 55 matches, recording 25 wins, 18 draws and 12 defeats. He finished with a 56% return.

Flamengo have already held meetings with Jardim to align details of a potential deal. A positive resolution is expected soon.
