Pascal Struijk’s £20 million exit to Brighton has left Leeds United seeking a new left-sided centre-back. With the window open, attention has fallen on high-profile and pragmatic fixes alike.
According to Leedsunited.news, despite heavy links from abroad with Juventus defender Lloyd Kelly, Leeds admire him but are not actively pursuing him. The Englishman fits Daniel Farke’s preferred left-footed, ball-playing profile, yet interest has not moved beyond that.
The recruitment approach is described as pragmatic under Red Bull’s structural influence. A costly Juventus deal is off the table for now, and talk around Burnley’s Maxime Esteve has been met with hesitation.
A more attainable avenue has emerged in Ladislav Krejci, the Czech Republic international centre-back. The 27-year-old joined Wolves in January, but their relegation to the Championship has altered his status.
Krejci is seen as a commanding leader, having captained Sparta Prague and the Czech national team. He could represent the kind of market opportunity Leeds want to exploit, with getting Struijk’s replacement deemed critical.
If Wolves must recalibrate finances for the second tier, Leeds could be well placed to step in. The 49ers Enterprises can reinvest proceeds from Struijk in a structured, amortised offer, while Kelly remains liked rather than pursued.
