In a recent Q&A, Manchester Evening News writer Simon Bajkowski claimed that Manchester City remain optimistic about landing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian giants are confident about securing the services of the English midfield ace this off-season.
The 23-year-old proved himself to be a consistent performer for the Midlands club in the previous campaign when he produced a string of solid performances at the heart of their midfield. Anderson featured in 50 matches for Nottingham last season, netting four goals and grabbing five assists in the process across multiple competitions.
The English talent is currently one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Therefore, it makes sense for Man City to try and get him on board later this year.
His current contract at the City Ground will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Mancunian club to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Anderson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and is a good passer as well.
The English midfielder can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his side from midfield. Anderson mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if asked to do so. He has got enough experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Mancunian club.
Anderson would undoubtedly bring more quality to Man City‘s midfield department. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 23, Anderson will only improve with each year. Hence, it makes sense for Man City to go all out to snap him up this summer. He will also help the Mancunian outfit compete for some major trophies in the future. Thus, Man City should focus on signing him before the end of this transfer window.
