Celta de Vigo have completed the departure of centre-back Manu Fernández to Cádiz, two days before their LaLiga opener at Valencia on Saturday, 22 August.
According to Superdeporte, the 25-year-old has said goodbye to team-mates and will travel on Thursday to Andalusia to finalise the move. He will sign a three-year contract, with Celta retaining a buy-back option across the first two seasons.
The defender from Narón made the step up to the senior squad after several years with the reserves. He played 32 games for Celta Fortuna in 2024-25, then moved into Claudio Giráldez’s first-team set-up.
Last season he featured in LaLiga, the Europa League and the Copa del Rey, although his involvement was limited. His exit forms part of a wider rebuild, with further business still pending before the window closes.
Valencia host a Celta side still putting the squad together as both clubs prepare to kick off at Mestalla. The Vigo outfit continue to work on arrivals and further potential departures.
Head coach Albert Celades played an important role in convincing Fernández to make the move.
