Olympique de Marseille’s largest ultra group has published a communiqué urging supporters to organise and mobilise to vote against the far right in the second round of municipal elections to take place this weekend.

“The far-right is at the doors of power in our city. The party of division, racism, and xenophobia cannot be allowed to triumph and win in France’s second city,” read a statement from Marseille’s South Winners.  “We who boasted that we had no fascists in our stadium, unlike Lyon, Lille or Paris – where the RN achieved only marginal results – should be ashamed of ourselves.”

“On Sunday 22 March 2026, tolerance and the vision of living together must prevail over hatred and segregation (…) Our elders have always stood up for what is right; we must carry on. It is our duty to block this political party, which represents nothing but hatred of others,” they add.The far-right achieved a historic result in the first round, with Franck Allisio (35.02%) hot on the heels of the outgoing mayor, independent left-winger Benoît Payan (36.70%), in the first round. The centre-right candidate Martine Vassal, who came third (12.41%), will face them. “Marseille, wake up,” they insist.

Whilst the elections take place on Sunday, OM will be facing LOSC Lille at the Stade Vélodrome, with the game moved to 17:15 CET because of potential security concerns following what will be a decisive election night.GFFN | George Boxall
