Al-Ahli coach Matthias Jaissle is set to take charge at Newcastle United, with Sky Germany calling the move a 'done deal'.

The former Salzburg boss has a release clause permitting talks with other clubs. With Eddie Howe's tenure ending unexpectedly, Newcastle moved quickly to secure him for the upcoming Premier League season.

An agreement until 2030 is in place and is expected to be made official in the coming days.

Jaissle had long been linked with Bundesliga roles, yet he stayed in Saudi Arabia for three years, a spell viewed as successful for all involved.

The German coach will link up with compatriots Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw at Newcastle.
