Memphis Depay has returned to the Corinthians matchday squad after two months out with a grade 2 right thigh injury sustained against Flamengo in the 2026 Brasileirão on 22 March.
According to Meu Timao, the Dutch forward will start on the bench for Sunday’s 18:30 meeting with Atlético-MG, with Yuri Alberto and Jesse Lingard leading the attack.
He was close to a comeback in April, but his recovery suffered a setback due to an error in the club’s medical preparation. He was also rested in midweek against Peñarol in the Libertadores because of discomfort in his left calf.
His Netherlands call-up remains undecided ahead of 27 May. Ronald Koeman has not guaranteed his inclusion, saying the player needs minutes to be selected.
The expectation is that the No 10 will feature against Atlético-MG, then face Platense of Argentina on 27 May. If he is called up, he will miss Corinthians’ game with Grêmio on 30 May, when the Dutch squad assembles.
Contractually, Depay’s deal with Corinthians runs to 20 June and no extension has yet been agreed. The club are seeking financial partners, while the player has accepted renegotiating money owed and is open to a salary reduction.
