Monaco United’s women, in their first season, crushed Hyères FC 8-1 at Stade Didier Deschamps in Cap-d’Ail to reach the Coupe Méditerranée final. They are the first District side to make the showpiece.

Formed in August, they had already won away at Rousset in the quarter-finals against opponents two divisions higher. As reported by Nice-Matin, the club hosted partner Peace and Sport before the tie as part of the White Card campaign.

President and head coach Marco Simone said the breakthrough shows how work, passion and perseverance can overcome obstacles, and he voiced pride in a cup run built since the club’s launch. He added that the journey reflects the club’s rigour and ambition.

Forward Sara Lakhssassi said the target from the first match was to go all the way, and she hopes they show their true face in the final to finish the adventure in the best way.

Monaco United have already sealed the District 06 title and a place in the promotion play-offs. In the final they will face Olympique de Marseille’s reserves, who play in Régional 1 Féminin, the same level as Hyères. Simone noted that meeting such a historic club’s team in a final is a powerful moment.

The end of the season is busy, with a Coupe Marenco semi-final at Cannes on 26 April. This campaign could yet become truly historic.
