Monza are interested in Manuel Lazzari, with the Lazio full-back appearing to be on his way out after seven years.
According to The Laziali, the newly promoted club have made an enquiry as they prepare for a Serie A return, having beaten Catanzaro in the Serie B play-off final. Like fellow promoted side Venezia, who signed Toma Basic on a free, they have looked to Lazio and view Lazzari’s Serie A know-how as an asset.
The 32-year-old thrived as a wing-back in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2, then largely backed up Adam Marusic when Maurizio Sarri switched to a four-man defence. He made 23 Serie A appearances this season, only nine from the start.
Despite the coaching change, he is not expected to be part of Gennaro Gattuso’s plans next season. Marusic has signed a new deal and Romano Floriani Mussolini is due back from Cremonese to act as the Montenegrin’s understudy, leaving Lazzari surplus.
Lazzari is under contract until June 2027, so a modest fee should be enough to prise him away. The former SPAL player could wait for further proposals before deciding his next move.
