Morgan Rogers joins Chelsea for €137 million, fifth most expensive player in history | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, Morgan Rogers completed a move to Chelsea on Tuesday for around €137 million, making him the fifth most expensive footballer in history.

Fresh from winning the Europa League with Aston Villa, he was also a World Cup semi-finalist with England.

He is the second of the 23 Three Lions at the World Cup to be transferred for more than €130 million, after Elliot Anderson’s €135 million move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City.

Rogers now overtakes Anderson as the most expensive English player ever. He ranks behind Neymar, €222 million from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, Kylian Mbappé, €180 million from Monaco to PSG in 2017, Alexander Isak, €150 million from Newcastle to Liverpool in 2025, and Ousmane Dembélé, €145 million from Dortmund to Barcelona in 2017.

He delivered 15 goals and 15 assists in all competitions for Villa under Unai Emery.

Rogers has signed until 2033 and will reunite with former Manchester City academy team-mate and friend Cole Palmer at the Blues under Xabi Alonso.
