Mourinho completes Real Madrid staff overhaul with new arrival and departure | OneFootball

While most of the spotlight at Real Madrid this summer will be taken by the changes in the first team, with four new signings completed already, and the change of the head coach, Jose Mourinho taking over from Alvaro Arbeloa, there have also been a lot of changes in the coaching staff.

As Diario AS has noted, the Portuguese coach has made two notable changes to finalize the staff that will work alongside him with the Merengue first team going forward. There has been a new arrival in the coaching team, i.e., the physiologist Sandro Carrico, while there has also been a departure, of Luis Llopis, the goalkeeping coach, who also oversaw the highly successful periods under Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane.

Carrico will be one of the many individuals Mourinho has brought from Benfica, including the likes of Joao Tralhao, Pedro Machado, Roberto Merella, Antonio Dias, and Nuno Santos.

This latter coach, Santos, would be the replacement for Llopis as the goalkeeping coach. He also came from Benfica, but his association with Mourinho goes a long way back, as he had also worked with the Portuguese manager during his stints at Tottenham, Roma, and Benfica. Their relationship started when Mourinho himself was a goalkeeping coach at Vitora de Setubal in his twenties, and Santos was one of the goalkeepers training under him.

As far as Llopis is concerned, it remains to be seen whether he would be reassigned by Real Madrid in another capacity, but he would not be working with the first team. Mourinho decided to take on another long-term employee of the club, Antonio Pintus, in his staff, but that has not been the case with Llopis.

Real Madrid have already updated this list of coaching staff on their official website, and hopefully, all these individuals would be able to work together to help the Merengue team achieve its objectives for the next season.
