Newcastle United Star ‘Given The Green Light’ To Move Amid Interest | OneFootball

Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade has ‘given the green light’ to a season-long loan move to Serie A giants Napoli.

The Magpies signed 6ft 6in towering centre forward Woltemade last summer from Stuttgart by paying a club-record transfer fee after the departure of Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Woltemade made a bright start to his career at St. James’ Park with four goals in his first five league games but during the second half of the season went goal-less in the Premier League for nearly five months, which he himself admitted left him frustrated.

Former boss Eddie Howe often used Woltemade in different roles despite the player being natural number nine and though Matthias Jaissle is keen to make the best use of him, talk of an exit has resurfaced towards the end of the window.

His future at St. James’ Park is uncertain and clubs are taking note of the situation, with particular interest from Italy.

Nottingham Forest are among Woltemade’s admirers and the Tricky Trees made a concrete approach to him, but Newcastle promptly rejected them.

Now with the deadline approaching, Woltemade is drawing attention from Italy, with Serie A giants Napoli looking to sign him on loan.

And, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport (via Area Napoli), Woltemade has ‘given the green light’ to a move to Napoli if a deal can be done.

It has also been suggested that the Tyneside outfit are also open to his departure, but Napoli will have to offload a player first to make room for Woltemade.

The German striker’s high salary could also be a stumbling block for Napoli and to aid the move, the Magpies might have to agree to pay part of his salary.

Woltemade was part of the German squad featuring in the 2026 World Cup and he will be looking to play regularly to impress Jurgen Klopp.

He has made 52 appearances for Newcastle so far in his career with eleven goals and five assists.

It remains to be seen in the event of Woltemade’s departure whether Jaissle will push to bring in a replacement before the window closes.
