Neymar has got ahead of Santos by announcing Philippe Coutinho’s arrival in a social media video, before any club confirmation. According to Diario Do Peixe, he revealed the move while meeting the midfielder at the club’s CT Rei Pelé base.

In the footage, Neymar called the moment a dream, said the squad and supporters would embrace Coutinho, welcomed him to Santos and promised to look after him.

The agreement was brokered by NR Sports, the company that manages Neymar’s career. The first approach came from Neymar and NR Sports, who then worked to persuade Coutinho to return to play for the club.

Coutinho has completed medical tests in recent days, signed his contract and is already training at CT Rei Pelé.

He has not played since February. His last match was on 14 February for Vasco against Volta Redonda in the Campeonato Carioca, and he ended his deal a week later to focus on his mental health.
