Nominees for the Ballon d'Or announced | OneFootball

After revealing the nominees of clubs and managers of the Ballon d'Or, France Football magazine moved on to the players which includes some surprise inclusions and one of last year's winners excluded from the shortlist.

The nominations started with goalkeepers in which Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Lorena, Manchester City's Ayaka Yamashita, and England international Hannah Hampton were all nominated.

Premier League starts Emiliano Martínez and David Raya featured in the men's shortlist that also included World Cup cult hero Vozinha alongside Yassine Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, Joan García, Gregor Kobel, Ëdouard Mendy, Matvey Safonov, and Unai Simón.

The young talent of the year included Vicky López, Felicia Schröder, Clara Serrajordi, Lily Yohannes, and Chelsea star Veerle Buurman.

Meanwhile the men's list features 10 names which will include many familiar names: Kerim Alajbegović, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Pau Cubarsí, Yan Diomandé, Lennart Karl, Éli Junior Kroupi, Lamine Yamal, Johan Manzambi, Ibrahim Maza, and Warren Zaïre-Emery.

Finally we go to the nominees for the big prize, the Ballon d'Or itself.

As ever, the longlist for the award is extensive. The women's nominations included England internationals Alex Greenwood and Alessia Russo. 

There was also plenty of WSL representation with Mariona Caldentey, Kerstin Casparij, Yui Hasegawa, Melvine Malard, Vivianne Miedema, and Khadija Shaw. New London City Lionesses arrivals Mapi León and Alexia Putellas also made the cut.

Elsewhere, the extensive list includes: Selma Bacha, Barbra Banda, Klara Bühl, Esmee Brugts, Scarlett Camberos, Temwa Chawinga, Cata Coll, Melchie Dumornay, Caroline Graham Hansen, Pernille Harder, Patri Guijarro, Rose Lavelle, Lorena, Manaka Matsukubo, Ewa Pajor, Claudia Pina Wendie Renard, Momoko Tanikawa, Caroline Weir, and Tessa Wullaert.

Despite all those names, last year's winner Aitana Bonmatí was not named in the list.

For the men's prize, the 30 players included three England internationals: Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Declan Rice.

Meanwhile the Premier League was represented by Bruno Fernandes, Erling Haaland, Gabriel Magalhães, and William Saliba as well as players who left the English top flight this season, Marc Cucurella and Rodri.

The longlist included 39-year-old serial winner Lionel Messi as well as longer list that includes Pau Cubarsí, Ousmane Dembélé, Luis Díaz, Achraf Hakimi, Lamine Yamal, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Marquinhos, Sadio Mané, Lautaro Martínez, Kylian Mbappé, Nuno Mendes, Michael Olise, João Neves, Willian Pancho, Julián Quiñones, Fabián Ruiz, Ferran Torres, Dayot Upamecano, Vinícius Júnior, and Vitinha.

The winners will be announced at the Ballon d'Or ceremony that takes place in London on October 26th as part of a special 70th edition of the awards.
