RC Lens have announced that they have triggered Saud Abdulhamid’s (26) purchase option. The Saudi wing-back initially joined the Artois side on loan from AS Roma. Abdulhamid is now tied with RC Lens over a three-year contract set to expire in 2029. The 26-year-old is the first Saudi to have featured in France’s first-tier.

A tireless wing-back who excelled in transitional play, Abdulhamid perfectly suited Sage’s style of play. He’s logged three goals and eight assists with Les Sang et Or this season. The Saudi Arabia international notably started Lens’ Coupe de France final against OGC Nice. 

“Continuing with Saud was a no-brainer, given how successful the season we just had together was”, said RC Lens Sporting Director, Jean-Louis Leca. “Saud has footballing qualities that meet our expectations.” Despite leading Lens back to the Champions League, head coach Pierre Sage is expected to leave in the coming days.
