Freiburg striker Junior Adamu’s loan out to Celtic has been officially confirmed. One day after dropping a close Bundesliga fixture against Stuttgart, the Breisgauer have loaned the attacker to Stuttgart’s future Europa League playoff opponents.
As noted in previous GGFN coverage of the deal, a purchase option is not part of the arrangement. Further collaboration can, as usual, nevertheless not entirely. Adamu made clear in his club statement that he’s eager to prove some of his detractors wrong.
“I can’t wait to get started,” Adamu noted in his official Celtic presentation, “I want to give my best for this club and try to win titles, score lots of goals and help the team. I also want to improve as a player. I spoke to coach [Martin O’Neill] and he really motivated me. I trust him. He has given me that confidence. He has explained how the system works and I feel that the connection between us is very strong.
“I’m dangerous in the box and hungry for goals,” Adamu continued. “That’s what the coach sees in me and that’s what I want to show on the pitch. I can’t wait to be in the stadium. I’ve seen a lot of videos and it looks fantastic. I can’t wait to get started.“
“Junior has always put himself at the service of the team,” SCF sporting director Klemens Hartenbach noted in the German club’s statement. “But his playing time has recently been unsatisfactory for him and for us. We hope that the loan to Celtic will bring a new dynamic.”
