Palmeiras are moving to extend centre-backs Murilo and Gustavo Gómez through 2029, building on a reinforced defence. Both are under contract until December 2027.
According to Globo.com, the club have approached their representatives to open talks on pay rises and two extra years. Relations are described as positive, creating optimism over an agreement.
If finalised on that basis, Gómez would see out the deal at 36, with Murilo at 32. New arrival Alexander Barboza, signed from Botafogo for about R$ 20 million, has begun work at the Academia de Futebol and could debut after the World Cup.
Gómez and Murilo have been central to a trophy-laden spell, lifting eight titles together. Their haul includes the 2022 Recopa Sudamericana, four Paulistas in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026, two Brasileirão titles in 2022 and 2023, and the 2023 Supercopa do Brasil.
The club also have Benedetti at centre-back, a 19-year-old 1.97m prospect who has attracted interest from abroad and could depart. Another name for the future is Koné, recently added to first-team training support and named for the win over Chapecoense, the final match before the World Cup.
Palmeiras do not plan to part with regular starters and, after securing Barboza, have no major priorities for the upcoming window. Brazil midfielder Danilo Santos is of interest.
