Paraag Marathe has outlined Leeds United’s summer blueprint, confirming captain Ethan Ampadu has agreed a new contract to secure his long-term future. He also set clear expectations around recruitment, sales and finance.

According to Leeds Live, Marathe and manager Daniel Farke are aligned on keeping the core group together, believing the team’s chemistry is greater than the sum of its parts.

After making 10 signings last year as a newly promoted side, Leeds will seek far fewer additions this window. The bar for breaking into the squad has been raised.

Recruitment will focus on high-impact quality rather than rotation options. The club is prepared to take a few bold punts to secure top-end, differential talent.

Financial sustainability means improving how departures are handled alongside arrivals. Any sale will rely on mutual willingness from Leeds, the buying club and the player.

This summer the Profit and Sustainability Rules give way to the new Squad Cost Ratio framework. Under SCR, Leeds can spend up to 85% of total revenue on pitch-related outlay such as wages and transfers.

In the short term, SCR offers slightly less flexibility than PSR, so market spending must be strategic and calculated.

Over time, SCR rewards organic local revenue growth from tickets and commercial streams. Once the Elland Road West Stand expansion is complete, Leeds will be structurally placed to compete with upper-echelon Premier League clubs.
