With Estevao and Jamie Gittens out for the season, the last thing Chelsea needed was more attacking injuries. So typically, they lost two players before the game against Nottingham Forest last week.
The good news is that interim manager Calum McFarlane had a positive update on them both in his press conference today ahead of the FA Cup final on Saturday.
“Pedro Neto and Ale Garnacho have trained well this week, so looking really good, really hopeful with them as well. So, yeah, positive sign,” the caretaker confirmed.
We’d really appreciate a little more from McFarlane on this subject. He’s a man of few words, and that’s probably wise, given his position. But this is the 5th press conference he’s had since they picked up their injuries, and we’ve yet to have any more specific information than they’ve got “knocks.”
Still, it sounds like they’ll both be fit for Saturday’s game, which is the only news that really matters.
There were questions about Levi Colwill in the presser after the defender made a successful return from a long term injury against Liverpool last week.
Reece James is another key Chelsea player who made his return from injury in the Liverpool game – there’s positive news on him from McFarlane too.
