„Physical monster“: Bayern have found Goretzka’s successor

Leon Goretzka’s time at FC Bayern is coming to an end. The midfielder’s contract expires in the summer, an extension is currently not an issue – and the course is already being set at Säbener Straße for the time after that

There are increasing signs that FC Bayern are planning for the future without Leon Goretzka. The 30-year-old has long since ceased to play a central role under Vincent Kompany in sporting terms, and he is also moving out of focus strategically. Instead of a new contract, Munich are apparently looking to rethink the vacant squad position – and either focus on a young external talent or consistently promote their own young talent

External jewel or internal solution?

One name that keeps coming up in this context is Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha BSC. The 16-year-old is regarded as one of Germany’s biggest midfield talents, but is still under contract with the Berliners until 2029. Eichhorn is also currently out with a syndesmosis tear. The overall package would be expensive: around €25 million including transfer fee, salary and consultancy fee would be involved. There are therefore voices within the Bayern management who doubt whether such an investment is even necessary, as reported by tz

Even without Goretzka, Munich’s midfield would be broad and of high quality from the coming season. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic are set, Tom Bischof is to be built up in a targeted manner. Konrad Laimer could move more into the center again with a new right-back transfer, even Jamal Musiala is still considered internally as an option for deeper roles

Against this backdrop, internal solutions are becoming increasingly attractive. According to information from tz, FC Bayern are giving concrete consideration to bringing Noel Aseko back in the summer. The 20-year-old is currently on loan to Hannover 96, where he is gaining valuable match practice in the Bundesliga 2. Hannover have a purchase option of one million euros, while Bayern could bring Aseko back for a low single-digit million euro sum

Internally, the midfielder is highly regarded and is described as a real „physical monster“ – a profile that is not in abundance in the current Bayern squad. With Javi Fernandez and David Daiber, there are also two other campus talents ready to be integrated into the professional squad in the future

The direction is clear: instead of signing the next expensive name, FC Bayern could use the departure of Leon Goretzka as an opportunity – for a course that focuses more on development, permeability and home-grown talent.
