Although Real Madrid have also been looking to offload some of their first-team players, they have found it significantly easier to find new destinations for their academy-trained players. For instance, they have already completed the transfers of players like Nico Paz and Victor Munoz for significant sums, while from the first-team, they have only sold 1 player, Fran Garcia, who joined Real Betis.
Meanwhile, there are several other players at La Fabrica for whom Los Blancos are looking for new clubs, and in this regard, they have completed another operation. According to Diario AS, Real Madrid have sold 50% rights of the young fullback Victor Valdepenas to the Italian side Fiorentina for €8 million.
The youngster will sign a 5-year contract with the Serie A side, and the sum paid by them shows the faith the Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici and the new coach, Fabio Grosso, have put in the 19-year-old defender. They were particularly impressed by his offensive potential, aggressive defending style, versatility, physicality, and room for further growth.
Valdepenas enjoyed interest from several other sides across Europe, including the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, and Eintracht Frankfurt, but has ultimately decided to join the Viola club. The player and his entourage were not only satisfied with the investment the Tuscan club was willing to make on him, but also believed that Serie A would provide him with a good competition in which he can thrive and grow.
For now, Victor Valdepenas is waiting for the green light from Real Madrid to travel to Tuscany and join Fiorentina. Hopefully, he would enjoy a lot of success in this next chapter in his career, and might even return to the Merengue club in the future, especially if he is able to prove himself as a top-class talent during his time in Italy.
