Real Madrid’s summer overhaul under Jose Mourinho has gathered significant pace in the past week or so, with the club having already secured deals for Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate.
With more business expected both in terms of arrivals and departures, the futures of several existing squad members have come under the radar. One of those is Rodrygo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid would not stand in the way of Rodrygo leaving this summer as part of their wider squad makeover.

The Brazilian, who is currently recovering from a serious injury, is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2028.
While the club are open to his departure, the situation is complicated by the player’s own stance. Rodrygo has no intention of leaving Real Madrid and is determined to fight for his place under the new manager.
The willingness to consider Rodrygo’s sale comes at a time when Real Madrid are actively searching for a new striker to bolster their attacking options.
With Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr established as key figures, and Endrick returning from his loan spell at Olympique Lyon, competition for places in the forward line is set to intensify.
That congestion, combined with Rodrygo’s injury setback, has contributed to the club’s openness to a sale should the right offer arrive.

Not to mention, a significant fee for the Brazilian could also help fund Mourinho’s continued rebuild.
For now, the situation appears to be heading towards a standoff. Real Madrid are open to letting Rodrygo go, but the player himself wants to stay and prove his worth at the club he has called home since 2019.
Much like the situation surrounding Brahim Diaz, the resolution may ultimately come down to whether Real Madrid actively push for an exit or leave the decision in the player’s hands.
As things stand, Rodrygo’s preference is clear, and a summer departure is far from a foregone conclusion.
