The ongoing FIFA World Cup is a strange one as every top nation has had its big player step up and rise to the occasion so far.

Lionel Messi has risen for Argentina, while Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham have been unstoppable for France and England respectively.

On the same page, the player who has stepped up for Brazil is Vinicius Jr., and the Real Madrid star is performing at a whole new level.

His performances, in fact, have created a real sense of urgency at Real Madrid over sealing his renewal which has been at a standstill for months now.

New intermediary in place

A disagreement on wages has been the primary factor preventing an agreement between the player and the board, and with Florentino Perez now getting restless, he has begun contacting club legends to join the scene and convince the winger.

As reported by Defensa Central, Perez has already been in contact with Roberto Carlos and Santiago Solari to convince Vinicius. Now, he has pulled out his trump card – Ronaldo Nazario.

Indeed, the club president has now called on one of the greatest players in history to call in a favour.

He hopes that Ronaldo can convince Vinicius to stay at the biggest club in the world, and while he may not be directly involved in the negotiations, his mediation may prove to be crucial.

A critical summer for the Vinicius saga

It is no secret that Real Madrid and Vinicius both wish to continue working together, but Los Blancos’ hesitancy to offer the Brazilian the same wages as Kylian Mbappe is the root cause of all the rift.

Both parties will restart negotiations after the FIFA World Cup and will work towards securing an agreement.

However, Perez continues to keep all options open with the player and does not rule out selling the player if an agreement cannot be reached.

The Real Madrid president is clear that he will not allow the player to leave on a free transfer next summer when his contract ends, so if a renewal cannot be agreed on, he intends to sell the player for a lavish sum this summer.

Now that the player is officially in the final year of his contract, what happens to his future this summer will be critical. Negotiations will restart after the World Cup.
