Report: Champions League club make €44m Chelsea ace shock number one January target | OneFootball

Ajax have made the return of Jorrel Hato their number once choice for the left back position according to reports.

Hato joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer in a deal worth up to £38.5m, to act as back-up for Marc Cucurella at left back.

The 19-year-old is clearly talented but has struggled to make an impact so far this season, and has made just nine appearances in all competitions.

Hato has played just 167 minutes in the Premier League and has started just twice in the league since making the switch to Stamford Bridge.

The teenager has struggled and had a particularly difficult game against Qarabag in the Champions League last month.

Hato missed Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa through injury, and with the January window fast approaching he;’s been linked with a return to Ajax.

Dutch publication De Telegraaf have reported Ajax have made Hato their number one choice for the left back position.

The report adds it’s unclear if Chelsea would allow Hato to leave on loan in January, and it will be interesting to see if Hato pushes for a move.

If the Blues did let the Dutchman leave they would once again find themselves in a situation where there’s no natural alternative to Cucurella.
