Daily Mail report that Sergio Reguilon, the former Tottenham, Manchester United and Real Madrid left-back, “had been mooted for a return to Brentford where he had a spell on loan a year ago.”
“West Ham, Everton and Nottingham Forest also looked as they contemplated left-back options amid injury issues and departures.” With several sides in need of defensive reinforcements, Reguilon’s Premier League experience makes him a valuable short-term solution.
“The 28-year-old is weighing up options with some offers from abroad to consider also having previously flirted with a move to Saudi Arabia.” The decision could shape his final peak years at the top level, with Brentford appearing keen to re-sign him if terms align.
Brentford fans will be quietly hopeful about this report. Reguilon was popular during his short spell at the club and his ability to slot in seamlessly to Thomas Frank’s system would add depth at a crucial time. The January window is notorious for inflated prices, so a player with Premier League experience and familiarity with the club’s set-up could be seen as a safe and smart move.
West Ham, Everton and Nottingham Forest fans will also be intrigued. Each side has struggled with defensive consistency this season, and Reguilon’s attacking instincts could provide an added dimension going forward. There is some scepticism about his injury record, but supporters know his quality on the ball and his capacity to deliver in big moments.
The Saudi Arabia link may cause concern for fans hoping to see him stay in England, as financial packages abroad are always tempting. However, the sense is that Reguilon has unfinished business in the Premier League.
