Rob Edwards explains Joao Gomes omission for Wolves at Burnley | OneFootball

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards says Joao Gomes is not being risked at Burnley because of a knee problem, with the Brazilian omitted from the final-day squad.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Atletico Madrid are in talks over his signature and he is expected to leave in the summer transfer window.

Edwards confirmed the decision ahead of kick-off.

"Joao is feeling his knee," the head coach said.

"He didn’t train yesterday and we decided it wasn’t right to push (him)."

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was also omitted to face the Clarets due to illness.

"It’s sickness, he didn’t report in yesterday and we sent the doctor out to go and see him."

"He’s got a sickness bug so we had to keep him away from the lads."
