Rob Edwards has rejected an approach from Burnley for their vacant manager’s job, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The 43-year-old was sacked by Wolves earlier this month, with Cesar Peixoto appointed as his successor.

It was a shock to the former Wolves defender, who learned of plans to replace him via social media reports, then was dismissed the next morning by phone while on a family holiday.

Some senior staff at Wolves were also unaware before the plans leaked, with chairman Nathan Shi and owners Fosun taking the decision while working with agent Jorge Mendes to complete a deal for Peixoto.

Burnley were reportedly close to appointing Wales boss Craig Bellamy, but turned to Edwards after that move fell apart.
