Romain Philippoteaux replaces Élise Bussaglia as Sedan head coach in Régional one | OneFootball

CS Sedan-Ardennes, a Régional one club, announced on Sunday that Romain Philippoteaux has been appointed head coach of the first team, tasked with steering the Ardennes side back towards the national leagues.

At 38, the former attacking midfielder takes over from Élise Bussaglia, who left after two seasons in charge of the Sangliers.

Philippoteaux steps into his first number one role after serving as assistant coach and reserve-team boss at Le Puy-en-Velay.

His playing career spanned more than 300 professional matches for Dijon, Lorient, Auxerre, Brest and Nîmes, plus NorthEast United FC in India.

Relegated administratively to Régional three in summer 2023, Sedan quickly returned to Régional one, then fell just short of promotion to National three, now National two following the arrival of Ligue three, after losing an accession play-off to APM Metz. The club now hopes to clear that final step under its new head coach.
