According to Superdeporte, Valencia are close to completing a deal for Ryunosuke Sato after agreeing a fee of around €four million with FC Tokyo. The move would bring him to Mestalla.
The 19-year-old Japan international would arrive with an eye-catching profile for his age, and one record in particular involves Take Kubo.
On 8 March 2023 Sato made his senior debut for FC Tokyo in the Japanese League Cup. He was 16 years, four months and 20 days, the youngest player to appear in an official match for the capital club.
Until then that honour belonged to Take Kubo, who first played for FC Tokyo at 16 years, five months and 22 days, before subsequent moves to Real Madrid, Mallorca, Villarreal, Getafe and Real Sociedad.
The gap was barely a month, yet it made waves in Japan. Surpassing a benchmark held by the country’s most high-profile player of the past two decades underlined that FC Tokyo had another generational talent.
If the transfer is finalised Sato would also outstrip Kubo on price. FC Tokyo received around €two million for Kubo, and expect roughly double from Valencia.
