Saël Kumbedi wants to leave relegated Wolfsburg, but the club are blocking any move despite summer interest. According to L'Equipe, the France Under-21 right-back, 21 and under contract until 2029, is training away from the first team.
After the drop to Germany’s second division, an understanding was reached that he could seek a transfer in this window.
On that basis, approaches and bids arrived from Marseille, Torino, Hamburg and Werder Bremen. Several loan formulas were also put forward, an option that suited the player.
Wolfsburg then reversed course, rejecting every avenue and informing Kumbedi that he must stay.
His camp consider the stance difficult to understand, stressing he has met all obligations and behaved impeccably since joining. They say the desire to move is purely sporting, to keep competing at the highest level and continue his development.
With the deadline looming, the rift looks hard to bridge. Kumbedi believes the conditions are no longer right to pursue his project in Wolfsburg, and wants dialogue reopened to find a constructive solution.
An Italian club’s latest proposal arrived only hours ago, a loan with a fee of one million euros, another player heading the other way on loan, and a 12 million euro option to buy. He hopes the hierarchy respond positively.
