Midfielder Sandry has left Santos and bid farewell on social media after his contract was terminated.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the termination had been held up by unpaid wages, but he accepted an instalment plan and the release was registered in the CBF daily bulletin on Friday 11.
He is a free agent and can sign and be registered with another club until 7 October. Criciúma, where he had been on loan, also confirmed his departure.
In his message, he reflected on 13 years at the club, saying he arrived as a boy and will remain grateful to team-mates, staff and fans.
His spell at Criciúma was turbulent, with suggestions of missed sessions and daily notices, and that he did not fit Eduardo Baptista’s style, affecting his mental state.
He asked to return to Santos to train apart while he sought a move, but was initially barred from training. After talks between the parties, the loan and then his Santos contract were cancelled.
He extended a deal due to end in May this year to complete the loan, making 11 appearances and one assist, last playing in March and not featuring in Série B.
Born in 2002, he debuted in a 4-1 win over Red Bull Bragantino in January 2019 and made 106 Santos appearances. His injuries include ACL tears in both knees and facial fractures in 2023, and he recorded 4 assists.
